Following China Mobile's 2.5 billion yuan purchase of lithium iron phosphate battery, China Tower also announced a large-scale purchase of lithium iron phosphate battery. At the same time, the news that Tesla and other car companies will adopt lithium iron phosphate battery makes the market even more boiling. The industry believes that, with the progress of technology, the cost of lithium iron phosphate battery continues to decline, in the context of the new energy vehicle subsidies, it is gradually re valued by the car companies.

Recently, the Ministry of industry and information technology announced on its website the announcement of new vehicle products, changes and expansion products applying for the announcement of road motor vehicle manufacturers and products (batch 330) issued by the Ministry of industry and information technology. In the announcement, the Securities Daily noted that two popular pure electric vehicle models will soon be launched with lithium iron phosphate batteries. One is BAIC EU5, the other is SAIC Roewe ei5.

To this end, Gao Shen, a senior automotive industry observer, told Securities Daily that if the two vehicles further reduce the cost by carrying lithium iron phosphate battery, and further reduce the price of 400km endurance mileage, it is undoubtedly very competitive.

In the early stage of the development of pure electric passenger vehicles, the ternary lithium battery used to be the winner of the technical route of power battery, and the lithium iron phosphate battery was almost ignored in the pure electric passenger vehicle market. At the beginning of this year, an important event promoted the heavy return of lithium iron phosphate battery. Wang Chuanfu, chairman and President of BYD, revealed that the "blade battery" recently developed by BYD is a new generation of lithium iron phosphate battery, which is 50% higher in volume specific energy density than the traditional iron battery. At the same time, Tesla announced that it would use "cobalt free battery" for domestic vehicles, and the industry thought that Tesla might use Ningde era square lithium iron phosphate battery, which stirred the capital market for a while.

According to Gao Shen, the thermal stability of the positive electrode material for lithium iron phosphate battery is excellent, which is safer than the high density ternary lithium. At the same time, the lithium iron phosphate battery does not contain cobalt element. Compared with the ternary lithium battery, the cost is lower. If we can find a balance between the volume energy density and mileage demand, the cost advantage of lithium iron phosphate battery will play a significant role.

He also believes that the core competitiveness of electric vehicles lies in the declining cost. In today's more competitive pure electric vehicle market, coupled with the decline of new energy subsidies, the lower cost lithium iron phosphate battery has gradually attracted attention.

In addition to the new energy automobile enterprises paying more attention to lithium iron phosphate battery, with the launch of 5g new infrastructure, China Mobile and other operators have also released the bidding for lithium iron phosphate battery.

China Mobile took the lead in issuing the bidding announcement and will purchase 610.2 million ah lithium iron phosphate battery (about 195gwh), with the maximum bidding price excluding tax of about 2.508 billion yuan. China's iron tower also announced on March 11 that it will purchase large-scale lithium iron phosphate batteries, with a purchase scale of about 2gwh.

It is understood that the power of 5g base station is 3.5 times that of 4G base station, and the capacity of original backup battery can not meet the requirements of backup power, while the lithium iron phosphate battery with higher energy density is expected to be reused.

"The 5g base station will use lithium iron phosphate batteries on a large scale, mainly because they are cheap." Mo Ke, chief analyst of true lithium research, told the Securities Daily that this year's electric vehicle rate is probably sluggish, and 5g can fill the gap in demand.

Lu Rixin, an analyst at Orient Securities, believes that the frequent occurrence of this round of lithium iron phosphate batteries in the procurement of communication operators is the inevitable result of technological development and cost reduction. With the acceleration of 5g layout, the base station battery is expected to be fully lithium iron.

In addition, industry insiders pointed out that the pace of domestic 5g base station construction accelerated, driving the demand for energy storage battery to increase. Lithium iron phosphate battery has the advantage of high cost performance. In addition to the application in the pursuit of economic electric vehicles, it is expected to continue to expand the application scale in the communication industry and other energy storage fields in the future.
